Detox The Inside

Hopefully, you have had a wonderful, long soak in a relaxing detox bath. Now, let’s focus on the inside. Many diseases and illnesses stem from abuse of our digestive system. You are what you eat! Unfortunately, eating healthy, nutritious foods is becoming more and more difficult. If you do not live in an area that has an abundance of organic farms, chances are it is even more difficult to find fresh food that had not been treated with pesticides and other poisons. From time to time, detoxing the inside of your body is just as necessary and detoxing the outside.

Many are the benefits of body detoxification. The first, of course, is that you will rid your body of poisons. Next is the fact that detoxing your body can mean weight loss, and doesn’t want to lose weight. Best of all is your vital organs will begin to perform perfectly once again! When your organs are running at their peak, your whole body will be healthier. No doubt, you will notice that your skin looks much better and your energy levels will soar.

You may not want to do a major detox, such as the master cleanse or even doing any other long term detox. You can do simple cleansing with detox water. These are easy to make and you can customize them according to the benefits you need most. The very simplest way to detoxify is to drink lemon water each morning. Just a couple of slices of lemon in a glass of water and you are set.

The tastiest and most refreshing detox water, in my opinion, is cucumber mint water. The water will put the minerals out of the cucumber so that you not only get hydrated from the cucumber and the water, you also get the bonus of minerals. Mint adds a fresh cooling taste. You can also put lemon in with the cucumber mint to get that cleansing effect of the citrus.

Of course, you may want to use the lemon-cayenne water that is used in the master cleanse. This is probably the most highly effective cleansing drink that you can make. For this, you will need to mix: 2 Tablespoons lemon juice, 2 Tablespoons real maple syrup, about 1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 8 oz water. Mix it up and drink!

If you really want to take detox to the next level, you can do raw foods for a few days or even a week. The raw food diet is just the thing to get all of the nasty toxins out of your beautiful body. I, for one, can stand a day or so of raw food, but eventually I have to get back to warm, cooked foods. The raw food diet is just that….a diet of raw foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds are all allowed during a raw food diet, and their juices also.

The most successful detox plans are those that are planned. If you want to detox for a day, detox for a day. If you want to detox for a week or month, do that. But, plan it and make it something that you can stick to for that amount of time.

Your body will thank you for your great tender loving care! Next up, the last of the detox and purification installations…Detox For Your Mind.

Simple Detox Strategies

In keeping with the call of Coventina, the Goddess of Purification this week, let’s talk about some simple ways to detoxify the body. Today we will discuss a few easy ways to detoxify and purify the body on the outside.

Of course, most of us shower or bathe daily. However, there comes a time when we need to take the cleansing of the body a step further. A detox bath is a wonderful way to begin the purification process. There are many simple formulas to use to help you move toxins out of your body through the pores of your skin. And a long soak in a warm, relaxing bath just feels good.

Your body is bombarded daily by poisons and toxins. They can be absorbed through your skin, ingested in the food you eat, and they can enter your body just by breathing. Even those folks who are very careful to eat organic foods and clean their homes with natural cleaners are exposed to many toxins. We all can benefit from a detox bath from time to time.

The most simple of all detox baths is to add 1/2 cup Epsom salt and 1/2 cup baking soda (non-aluminum) to your bath. Sink into the warm water and relax. If you want a good smellin’ soak, just add a few drops of essential oil like relaxing lavender or calming clary sage.

You can take this detox to a whole other level with a few extras added in. Bentonite clay is a wonderfully powerful detox-er. You can make a paste of bentonite clay and a small amount of water. Rub the clay paste all over your body. This is sure to pull those nasty toxins out of your beautiful body!
Allow the paste to dry for about 5 minutes before immersing yourself in the bath.

Once you have shed the toxins, you may want to moisturize with organic coconut oil (the only moisturizer I use) with essential oils that are meant to purify. Purification oils include: thyme or valerian.

I hope you enjoy your detox and purification bath. I know that I do. Each time I do a detoxification purification bath I feel as if I have given by body a fresh start. And, oh how soothing this ritual can be!

Coming up in Thursday’s installment in our week of purification, we will explore detoxing and purifying on the inside………

Bright blessings!
